The first brooch is the deepest

This week, I bought a brooch. A woman in her 20s has no need for a brooch unless she lives in Seattle, wears horn rimmed glasses, and enjoys dressing like a 35 year-old office worker from the 1960s.

I seem to have crossed over to a stage in life where people buy brooches not to look irreverently 'vintage', but in a sincere attempt to look more 'elegant'.
